Village Adoption Scheme
The bank has adopted 211 villages across the country for the UAG endeavour. The officers of the VKCs in consultation with the Branch Manager and Regional Manager have identified a backward village Nagepur in Varanasi (UP), K.G. Palayam in Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) and Aushbali in Durgapur (West Bengal) near their command area and have prepared a credit cum development plan for the village for basic needs in Rural Infrastructure, Production, Investment and Consumption needs, besides Banking.
They have also identified an urgent need that can be immediately addressed by liaisoning with a government agency where the bank acts as a catalyst for expediting and, fulfilling the need and, if needed, bridging any gap in funding through its Corporate Social Responsibility Corpus and Rural Publicity corpus. Now all the rural branches have to identify one village as Union Adarsh Gram. The main activities undertaken by the Bank under UAG are:

Nagepur village was adopted by Union Bank of India in the year 2008 as “Union Adarsh Gram''. At the time of adoption, there were 389 families in the village which has grown to 512 as of now. The village was adopted with the intention to contribute from the bank’s side for its holistic development broadly on two following parameters:-
